The concept of a "Hate Crime" as currently used, is another butchery of the English language. As currently used in the media and by legislators, is in reference to crimes committed which involve an attacker of one race or sexual preference and a victim being of another race, religion and/or sexual preference. It is contended that we need special legislation to protect these groups from "Hate Crimes". Are these people serious?!
When is the last time you heard of a bludgeoning to death out of friendship? How about a "Lynching of Love"? Silly right, and so is special legislation for "Hate Crimes". I think it should be a given, that anyone who attacked another human being, physically, "hates" the victim for some reason or another. I know I don't try to kill my friends or even seriously hurt them, because I like them. The last time I checked, it is illegal to assault another person, regardless of love, hate or indifference, and believe it or not, it is illegal for one or more human beings to kill another human being(s), except when it is necessary to use deadly force to defend your own life, your family life or someone else's life from an armed attacker(s) which gives the indications that he/she intends to end the victim's life.
To make specialized laws to address violent crimes committed against a specific group(s) of people based on their race, religion, sexual preference, etc. is a discriminating action and totally un-necessary. For "Hate Crime" legislation essentially says that when for example, a white man kills a white man, and both are have the same religion, sexual preference, economic standing (class), and of relatively the same generation, that the act is LESS Wrong, than when, for example, a white man kills a black man, while utter the word "Nigger" or whatever other racially charged name he can think of at the time. All this is, is another attempt to further divide us along racial, religious, sexual preference and what ever other category they can think of. to separate us into. It is time to realize, regardless of the motive, assault, rape, and murder is wrong, and there are already numerous laws on the books to deal with those who commit these actions.
Those who support these so-called, "Hate Crime" laws, are essentially saying one of two things: (1.) The lives of those that fall into these groups are MORE important than those not in that group, so a greater punishment is warranted on those who attempt to or succeed in ending a member of the group in questions life, or (2.) The lives of those who belong to these groups are LESS important than those not in the group, therefore additional emphasis and punishments must be levied against those would attempt to or succeed in ending a member of the group in question's life. Essentially, they whether intentionally or not, are valuing human life based on race, sexual preference, religion or what ever. I don't believe this is vast majority of "hate crime legislation" supporter's intent, but that is what it equates to, and demonstrates how swallow their reasoning processes are. However this swallow thinking which is being thrust upon our children in public school and everyone else via primetime TV, is the only way that "Political Correctness" could ever be viably accepted.
It is time that people wake up and start using their heads for something other than a place to sit their caps. There is absolutely no reason for "Hate Crime" legislation to waste the time of congress being debated or voted on. It is time to see terms like "Hate Crime", and "African-American" for what they really are designed to do... divide the American people into multiple subcultures that are too busy sniping at one another, to grasp what is going on in the country as a whole, and giving the government free range to do what ever they please. It time to say enough is enough!
